Disposable Syringes General

We are aware that syringes are used either to inject medicines or to aspirate fluids. Earlier, glass syringes were commonly used for the purpose. They were reused after sterilizing in boiling water. With the advent of new technologies disposable syringes, for single use only are introduced to markets. These syringes are made of polypropylene material. These disposable syringes are available in two piece type, and in three piece types. Ramy / Shifa syringes are three piece types. Disposable syringes have the following body parts:

Cylinder or barrel

Piston or plunger

Needle

Cylinder / barrel is made of virgin polypropylene, and is in translucent color. The marking on the cylinder is screen-printed using non-erasable inks, or heat etched. The idea is that the marking should not come out while using the syringe. Two piece syringes have thin cylinders, while three piece syringes have thicker cylinders. Two piece cylinders can get damaged easily.

Piston / plunger is basically designed in such way that sits in the cylinder, perfectly leaving no leakage for any type of liquids. Two part syringes have the piston of the same material, and the base is thin plate. In case of three parts syringes piston is fitted with rubber gasket that provides firm base and perfect positional fitting for aspiration or injection. The rubber gasket sits truly to the base of cylinder, leaving almost negligible dead space. Rubber gaskets / stoppers are made of natural rubber or synthetic rubbers. Black colored gaskets are preferred.

Complete assembly is siliconised to increase gliding property of the piston, without friction.

The assembly is perfected to smoothness where no force has to be applied by the user while aspirating or injecting fluids.

Important feature of the syringes:

Luer lock and luer slip assembly, most of our Ramy / Shifa syringes are available in both types tips for fixation.

The syringes are available with or without needle assembly. Needle is the most important component of disposable syringe.

We manufacture painless high quality needles ( for luer slip / luer lock ) of stainless steel 304. Ramy needles are thin walled and siliconised for smooth penetration.

Ramy / Shifa syringes conform to German Standards DIN 13098, and SASO standards. Our syringes are manufactured in accordance with the guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices for Sterile Medical Devices, and Surgical Products laid down by World Health Organization. Both plants in Dammam and in Dubai are certified with " The Company Management System Award ISO 9002 ".
