With the envisioned growth potential for ALSHIFA, management conceived of another facet of the company's development thrust - Information Technology. Thus, the Electronic Data Processing Department was created to cater for the company's Information Systems with the first objective of providing a mechanism for recording the flow of transactions which is the lifeblood of all business organizations. Second, as a by-product, to provide ground information to assist personnel of the different departments in monitoring their daily operations. Lastly, also as a by-product, to provide management information necessary for such varied purposes as strategic business planning, the control of risks in its various forms and monitoring the company operation.

ALSHIFA has been developing and implementing customized applications and also acquired some ready-made software in the functional areas of Manufacturing, Distribution and Financial Management. The Company's goal is to computerize a lot of systems such as: Inventory Control, Production Inventory Management, Purchasing, Order Processing and Invoicing, Contract Sales Distribution, Payroll and Personnel, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Financial Analysis and Product Quality Assurance, in addition to utilizing the computer in the design process of its products.

Ultimately, the Department will link its operations to the branches in the region and subsidiaries in Malaysia, United Arab Emirates and other future locations across the globe to the Main Office in Dammam for a faster and responsive management control.
